Thinking Strategies for Mastering Math® was established in 1991 to significantly enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics for kindergarten through third grade educators and their students.

Who We Are

Jean Valer and Jane Haught, authors of Thinking Strategies for Mastering Math® along with Dr. David Harpster, mathematics professor serving as a consultant, have written research-validated classroom ready materials that are known for their practicality. 

Jean and Jane are respected authors of elementary textbooks focusing on clear and accurate terminology and hands-on modeling for developing concepts.

Concepts developed are from:

  • Research Validated Studies

  • State Standards - Those drawn up by individual states.

  • Common Core State Standards for Mathematics - pages 9 - 32

  • Principles and Standards for School Mathematics, 2000
